ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze the prevalence and associated factors of suicide ideation among adolescent students in Guizhou Province, and to provide scientific evidence for developing strategy. @*Methods@#Multistage stratified cluster sampling method was used to recruit 4 903 adolescents from 14 middle schools in Guizhou Province. China Youth Health Risk Behaviors Questionnaire was used and data were analyzed by using univariate analysis and Logistic regression analysis. @*Results@#Totally 14.3%(703/4 903) middle school students had suicide ideation during the past 12month period, in which 13.2% were boys and 15.4% were girls, more girls were prone to suicide than boys(χ2=5.20, P<0.05); 13.7% junior students, 15.0% senior students, 14.5% Han ethnic students and 14.1% minority students suicide ideation, and the differences between grades and ethnic groups were of no statistical significance (P>0.05). The multivariates Logistic regression analysis showed that risk factors for suicidal ideation included being girl(OR=1.49),higher maternal education(college and above: OR=2.26), suffering psychological bullying over the past 30 days(OR=1.30), taking part in fighting for the past 12 months (OR=1.33), often feeling lonely(OR=1.86), sleeplessness(OR=1.38), deliberate selfinjury(OR=3.58),decreases of daily activities due to depression(OR=1.87), ideation of running away(OR=3.31), internet addiction(OR=1.37), walk violating regulations(OR=2.42), but occasional low mood from academic pressure(OR=0.73) was a protective factor for suicidal ideation(P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#Suicide ideation of middle school students is closely related to campus violence, adverse inner metal experience and unhealthy behavior pattern. All sectors of society should attach great importance and targeted measures to prevent suicide and protect the students.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect and effects on nerve conduction velocity of α-lipoic acid combined with monosialoteterahexosyl ganglioside sodium (GM 1) on diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN).Methods Ninety-six cases patients with DPN were randomly divided into the observation group (50 cases) and the control group(46 cases).The control group received GM1 40 mg daily though travenous drip,the observation group received α-lipoic acid 600 mg and daily though travenous drip.The course of treatment was 2 weeks in two groups.The effect was observed after 2 weeks,the motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) and sensory nerve conduction velocity (SNCV) of median nerve and common peroneal nerve were detected by EMG.Results The total effectiveness of observation group was 94.00%(47/50),higher than that of the control group(71.74% (33/46),x2=7.0205,P< 0.05).After the treatment,MNCV and SNCV of median nerve of observation group and the control group were (47.6813.34)m/s and (43.82±3.10)m/s,(40.23±2.76)m/s,(37.31 ±2.79)m/s,and M NCV and SNCV of common peroneal nerve of observation group and the control group were(42.86±3.16)m/s and (39.47±2.17)m/s,(35.67±2.61) m/s and (32.16±2.50) m/s,all improved compared to before treatment(observation grou:t =7.876,8.428,6.923,7.234;control grou:t =3.572,3.483,3.413,4.182;P<0.05),and the magnitude of improvement of the observation group was more significant,and the difference was significant compared to control group after six months (t =5.133,3.827,4.634,4.545;P<0.05).Conclusion α-lipoic acid combined with GM1 in the treatment of DPN can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of patients and improve nerve conduction velocity,is better than the single use of gangliosides,it is worthy of clinical application.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA)on the apoptosis of human colon cancer SW480 cells and the mechanisms.Methods Mitochondrial membrane potential was detected,the quan-tity of cytochrome C was analyzed by Elisa kit,and the expression of cleaved caspase -9 and caspase -3 was detected by Western Blot.Results After treatment with EPA (0μg/mL,42.1μg/mL,84.2μg/mL,168.4μg/mL),the mitochondrial membrane potential(Δψm)of SW480 cells were declined (P <0.05 ),the values were (99.71 ± 0.04)%,(95.04 ±0.10)%,(88.65 ±0.41)% and (73.60 ±1.20)%(t =5.161,6.302,4.601,5.198,all P <0.05).The quantity of cytochrome C in cytosol was increased significantly compared with no treatment group,and the values were (12.8 ±1.2)ng/mL,(115.5 ±3.5)ng/mL,(290.5 ±5.2)ng/mL and (262.0 ±12.5 )ng/mL in different EPA treatment groups(t =6.345,6.013,5.846,4.613,all P <0.01).The expression of cleaved caspase -9 and caspase -3 were significantly increased.Conclusion EPA inhibits SW480 cells growth and induces apoptosis in a dose dependent manner.This action may be mediated by mitochondria -mediated intrinsic apoptosis pathway,cyto-chrome C release,and caspase -9 and caspase -3 activation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the value of transient elastography (FibroScan,FS)in predicting hepatic fibrosis in patients with HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B (CHB).Methods One hundred and four patients with HBeAg-negative CHB,who were diagnosed and treated in Hubei Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2011 to May 2013,were enrolled in this study.All patients underwent FS for liver stiffness measurement before liver biopsy.Statistical analysis was applied to compare liver stiffness (kPa)with fibrosis stage (de-termined by liver biopsy).The receiver operating characteristic (ROC)curve of FS was constructed,and the area under the ROC curve (AUC)was calculated to analyze the accuracy of live stiffness in predicting significant fibrosis and cirrhosis.Comparison between groups was made by Kruskal-Wallis H test,followed by Mann-Whitney U test for multiple comparisons.The correlation between two variables was an-alyzed by Spearman rank and Pearson correlation test.Results Liver stiffness gradually rose as the degree of hepatic fibrosis increased, with significant differences between groups (P<0.01 or P<0.05).Liver stiffness was positively correlated with the stage of hepatic fibrosis (r=0.810,P<0.01).The AUC of liver stiffness for detecting liver cirrhosis was 0.956;the cut-off value for diagnosing liver cirrhosis was 13.1 kPa;the sensitivity was 92.7%,and the specificity was 80%.Conclusion FS is a promising noninvasive method for the assessment of hepatic fibrosis in patients with HBeAg-negative CHB;particularly,it has high accuracy in the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis.FS combined with direct or indirect markers may play an important role in differential diagnosis and efficacy evaluation in patients with hepatic fibrosis.
